Warranty &
aftercare policy.
Your curbing carries a 1-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Here is what it covers, and how to look after a new curb.

The first year

What to expect,
and when.

The short version of the policy below. Most warranty questions come down to the first 48 hours, so that is where to pay attention.

  1. 0–6 hrsIf it rains

If rain starts within 6 hours of us leaving the job, cover the curb with plastic.

  2. 48 hrsKeep it clear

Keep pets, children, objects, sprinklers and yard work off the curb for at least 48 hours.

  3. 30 daysFull cure

The curb takes about 30 days to fully cure. Splotchy color while it dries out is normal.

  4. 1 yearWarranty period

Defects in materials and workmanship are repaired or replaced at no charge.

  5. 18 moThen reseal

Reseal after the first year, then every 18 months, to keep the color and the protection.

1-year warranty

Your curbing has a 1-year warranty against all defects in materials and workmanship. It will be repaired or replaced at no charge if the defect is caused by the materials we use, or by the way it was installed by our crew.

First 48 hours

Keep pets, children and objects away from the curbing for at least 48 hours. It will be safe to the touch by then, but still needs a few more days to harden all the way through.

The concrete curbing does not need to be sprayed or misted with water. Any damage from doing so is not covered.

Yard work after a new installation

Sod laying, sprinkler work and landscaping can start 48 hours after installation. Take care with shovels, picks and wheelbarrows around the curbing for a few days.

Hitting the curbing too hard before it is fully cured can damage it. That is not covered under warranty.

Landscapers and gardeners

If you have a landscaper working for you, let them know to protect the curbing. If wheelbarrows are hauling anything over the curb, put a mound of dirt over it or build a ramp so the weight does not crack it.

Never let heavy equipment run over the curb, no matter how old the curbing is. Damage from a third party is not covered under warranty.

Water on curbing

If it begins to rain within 6 hours of us leaving the job, please try to cover the curb with plastic. Make sure sprinkler systems do not come on for at least 48 hours.

Irrigation, pool backwash, condensation lines or rain can damage the curb within the first 48 hours.

White powdery stuff (efflorescence)

Efflorescence can appear on occasion and does not look good on your curbing. It usually comes from sprinklers, and can also appear after rain. How strong it is depends on how hard the water is and how much of it reaches the curb.

Check your sprinkler heads while the system is running and adjust them so less water sprays directly onto the curbing. If you have just laid sod that needs frequent watering, be patient: wait for the lawn to establish, then clean the curb once it has dried.

A 50/50 solution of vinegar and water with a light brushing removes efflorescence. You may need to repeat it a few times before it goes away for good.

Efflorescence caused by sprinklers or other water sources cannot be covered under warranty, but we will always do our best to help.

Curbing color

The color can look splotchy for a few days while the curb cures. That goes away as it cures and is not the same thing as efflorescence. It takes approximately 30 days for a curb to fully cure — moisture has to dry out of the concrete, which leaves a wet look in some spots for a while.

No need to be alarmed, but call us with any questions.

Cracks

Concrete curbing is like any other concrete: it can, and will, crack. We control cracking with joints every one to two feet, so if a crack does happen it should be in a joint. We see very little cracking in our work.

If a crack outside a joint is over 1/8″ and goes all the way through, we will replace the damaged area during the warranty period.

A note on repairs

Repairs can be difficult to match to the rest of the curbing, and a perfect color match is almost impossible. Sometimes a small crack is worth leaving alone — we can meet and decide together what you would like to do. Most of our clients find a hairline crack much less noticeable than a patch or a discolored section.

We will do our best to make sure you are happy.
